In 2006 celebrity "It" bags were constantly being thrown at us in the press and seeing our favourite 'A List' celebrities pictured carrying a certain bag could result in the item being an instant sell out. Now, particularly amongst the tween and teens bloggers community, YouTube superstars can have the same desired effect as A List celebrities. For instance a black bag with Rose Gold hardware from Ted Baker sold out on their website after Zoella mentioned it in a 'What's In My Handbag Video'.
PR companies and brands are fully aware of the impact Vloggers can have and have built up relationships with a vast array of YouTubers. There are now brands that are associated with the YouTube crowd for instance when Christmas is approaching you are bound to see more Body Shop products mentioned in YouTube videos. Other brands that are commonly linked to Vloggers are Asda, Disney, Topshop, Simple and Very. This also explains why so many Vloggers like the same items. Is it always a coincidence or is that the brands sponsored them at the same time?
One of the ways Bloggers and Vloggers make money is through the use of affiliated links. If a Vlogger chooses to work with a brand they become the brands affiliate. The Vlogger will then link to some of the brands products and get paid when viewers purchase the items through the link. Sometimes they even get paid just by the simple act of one of their viewers clicking on the link without purchasing.
Products that I swoon over after seeing a Youtubers talk about it:
Zoeva make up brushes
Charlotte Tilbury lip pencils
Whistles back packs and pouches
Monica Vinader rings
A disgusting amount of nail polishes
